Welcome To My Cozy Corner in Our Universe

Welcome to my cozy corner in our universe! It’s been a long wild ride, but we made it. I’m so glad you’re here! This blog is about my journey through life to start Cozy Corners in Our Universe.

If you told high school me that I would quit my advertising job to become a full-time travel blogger, I probably would’ve laughed in your face or asked if I had won the lottery. I never thought it would be possible. Well, in this day and age where almost anyone can make a full-time income from social media, I thought, why not. If others can do it, then so can I.

Let me backtrack for you to fully understand this story. I grew up in a family who loved to travel. In fact, I started traveling when I was just six weeks old. I’ve been very fortunate to have been able to travel to multiple countries and most of the USA. All of those trips have shaped me into the open-minded, loving, cultured human I am. I am forever grateful to my parents for giving me those experiences.

My father and I were born in Texas, and he grew up there. We moved to Arkansas when I was seven and were only able to visit Texas once or twice a year. He loved Texas so much that he planned more trips to Texas than he could ever go on. After his heart attack when I was in sixth grade, he created his blog, One Dusty Track. Honestly, I believe that blog was his one true passion. Unfortunately, he died from a many-year battle with cancer in February 2022.

His and my mom’s love for travel inspired me. They had waited so long to be able to go out on their own after they retired so they could travel the world that the world couldn’t wait for them. My dad’s long cancer battle and the 12-year age gap between my parents caught up to them. I learned that waiting for the right time to travel isn’t an option. Do it now while you can. Tomorrow is never guaranteed, so live life for today.

When I graduated from college, I got a job in advertising, handling social media accounts for clients. I planned to climb up the ladder and end up in the creative or production department, but after a year, I realized that it wasn’t what I truly wanted anymore. Luckily I had a trip to Ireland in August 2022 planned, and I needed it.

While in Ireland, I traveled with a tour group of people my age. I made new friends and fell in love with international travel. A group of us wondered why we should even return to our homes. We joked that we should all rent out a house so we could stay.

At that moment, I realized that I didn’t have much of a reason to go back.

Besides my mom, my cat, and my friends, there wasn’t much holding me back from staying. I looked inward and found that I hadn’t been happy in a long time. I needed to find myself again and feel fulfilled. There was only one thing I could think to do. When I returned home, I would make a plan and decide when to quit my job.

While pondering how I would make money after I quit, my dad’s blog popped into my head. I realized that I love to travel and still planned on traveling after I quit. That’s where the idea to start my own blog came from. I love writing, and I have managed over 15 clients’ social media accounts. So I figured that I could definitely manage my own.

October was the time I quit my job, and I haven’t looked back since. Got started on this blog, and now we are here.

I’m not sure how things will work out, but I know that I will find myself and experience wonderful things by exploring my backyard and the rest of the world. My goal is to take you with me on my journeys and help you feel like you can go on your own adventures! Thank you for choosing to join me on my journey. I want to hear about your journeys and how traveling, even if it’s just in your backyard, has helped you discover your best self.
